BUSINESS AND EMPLOYMENT LAW
We handle the formation, operation, and dissolution of all types of business entities, such as professional corporations, limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, family limited partnerships, and franchises. We also represent businesses in employment-related issues and litigation, including discrimination and harassment claims.
ESTATE PLANNING, WILLS, TRUSTS, AND GUARDIANSHIPS
We counsel and represent clients on issues that affect the elderly, including estate planning, health care, guardianships, and long-term care planning. Estate planning is the area of dealing with the distribution of an individual’s property at his or her death. Advance directives are legal documents that specify actions that should be taken in the event of a person’s illness or incapacity. Our estate planning and advance directive services include the preparation of wills, trusts, living wills, powers-of-attorney, and health care representative appointments.
PROBATE AND ESTATE ADMINISTRATION AND LITIGATION
Probate is the legal process by which a person’s debts are paid and assets are distributed upon death. Lawyers refer to the entity that holds a deceased’s assets until those assets are distributed as an “estate.” Estate Administration includes the probate process as well as non-probate transfer of the deceased’s assets. Our law firm represents clients in estate administration. We also represent clients in estate litigation, such as will contests, trust disputes, and claims against estates.
We can assist you if you are buying or selling a house, lake cottage, or commercial or retail real estate. Our firm represents participants on all sides of every type of real estate transaction. Our clients include tenants, landlords, developers, lenders, buyers, sellers, and investors. We have counseled them in the acquisition, finance, planning, zoning, land use, construction, leasing and sales of real estate.
We advise and represent municipalities and governmental entities, agencies, departments, boards, and councils concerning their local governance needs, including drafting ordinances and contracts, litigation, public records and open door compliance, annexations, finance, and real estate.
